Random Acts of Kindness Day: How Will You Show Kindness Today?

Happy National Random Acts of Kindness Day! (February 17th, 2017)

Do you get as excited about unofficial holidays as I do? Kindness Day has me smiling extra big! On several occasions, I have been the recipient of a random acts of kindness, causing an extra bounce in my step and leap to my heart.

On one occasion, I received my Starbucks order for free, the domino effect of many free orders that day. Naturally, I wanted to pay for the person behind me. This is the awesome part of kindness! It naturally amplifies! One act of kindness creates many more!

This week, I asked friends to share ways they have given or received acts of kindness. I adore their responses. I hope their kindness inspires you as it did me today! Let’s get our kindness on, San Diego!

Random Acts of Kindness: San Diego and Beyond

A few weeks ago, my aunt and I were walking through the  US Grant Hotel downtown and we stopped to talk with the chandelier cleaner. He owns the business. It takes 4 days to clean the chandelier by hand. We enjoyed our chat with him, and learning about his trade. On the way back from dinner, we cut through the Grant Hotel, and Ed gave us both a chandelier crystal.

My son and his friend passed out free balloons at the mall to kids to bring them a smile. It was a surprise to the parents that they were free!

Gals that Brunch has started to keep around stacks of thank you cards and pass them around to sign for the folks in the service industry and keep a stack of Starbucks cards to add in there. A friend of mine inspired me by putting care packages together for the flight crew every time she flies.

I didn’t realise there was an actual day for this. The first time I came across a random act of kindness the person in the drive through at McDonald’s paid for my order. I try to do this when I can. Plus some coffee shops have a thing where you can pay for a coffee for the homeless.

A few years ago we found $20 in our parking lot. We obviously had no way to return it to it’s owner so my dad suggested we use it to bless someone else. That is my new tradition now! Even if I find just a dollar on the ground, I want to use that dollar to do something for someone else. Love this post!

That is such a good idea, Brittany! I will have to adopt it 🙂
