The date: Monday, April 25th at 6pm.

It was a day like any other beautiful San Diego day, except there was excitement, and a touch of nervousness in the air! I was trying to keep my cool as I walked up to our meeting spot, while I rehearsed everything in my mind over and over again. I knew the team members as they were gathering, since we all coordinated to wear blue, yellow, and coral (our accent color). Once I saw all the beautiful faces of our team I started to relax.

The meetup spot: Ballast Point Brewing Company in Little Italy.

Little Italy happens to be a great representation of the city of San Diego. All over the area we have brew pubs, amazing restaurants, and we are minutes from the water. So having Ballast Point as our meet up location couldn’t have been more perfect for our first meeting!

Although it was pretty busy for a Monday night, the Ballast Point staff were very gracious and showed us to our event space in the back. It was a quaint little table and chairs in the back where all of the exciting behind-the-scenes equipment is for brewing. It gave off that cool, relaxed vibe.

The photographer: The beautiful Angela Burkard of Burkard Photos

Angela so graciously captured our individual photos, as well as our team photos. She was patient, flexible, and made the whole process extremely easy!

As we all realized we are moms who are mostly behind the camera, not in front of it. It might have felt a bit out of comfort level for some of us; however, Angela did her best to make us laugh and enjoy our time together!

The treats: Sugar Rush Baking out of Spring Valley.

When I spoke to this amazing team of ladies, I had only asked for “around two dozen cookies.”  When I picked them up, not only did they look amazing, but they provided me with six dozen cookies! They went above and beyond the call of duty and they were delicious! We will definitely be getting some sweet cookies from them again!

It was truly a memorable night and our team is extremely excited to work together to provide San Diego with some great content and resources.
