Ride into the New Year with SDMB at the Rush {Recap!}

1

On Friday night, January 27th, a whole bunch of San Diego mamas met at the Rush Ride in Carmel Valley for a killer spin class with Emily of Crybaby Fitness.ride into the new year

We all knew that we were going to sweat- but I am pretty sure we were all a bit apprehensive. Most of us were newbies/ it had been a few years since we last took a spin class.

ride into the new yearLet’s be honest here mamas- spin can make your girly parts hurt pretty bad if you have no idea what you are doing! BUT- it wasn’t like that for this class. Emily helped everyone get set up after we got our cool spin shoes on. The best way to describe these shoes is to imagine a really comfy pair of running shoes ride into the new yearthat fit like a glove, and then you take a step… and it’s awkward. You feel like you have a rock stuck to the bottom of your shoe at the ball of your feet. It’s what  enables you to click into the bike for your ride so that your feet don’t slip off. I walked around in these and spun around on that little rock feeling thing because it was so fun!

Anyways, as we got our shoes and before we got situated on our bikes, we had some delicious tea and cold coffee samples from the Rush’s neighbors, Copa Vida. Then, we grabbed a few Suja juices to keep us hydrated! Did you know that Suja juice is made in Oceanside?

Ok- so now all the apprehensiveness is gone- and we are jumping into class! We start our warm up, and I am already breathing heavy. Once Emily cranks up the music, we really get going! It’s not the typical spin class I was expecting- it was better! We danced on our bikes, did some arm workouts (man are my arms sore!) and had moments where we could really push ourselves during our ride.

Overall, we all walked out of class feeling amazing, sweaty, and proud of ourselves for our accomplishment. I can see how people get addicted to spin, it really is an energizing class! And it really is a class for everyone. We had a mama in her second trimester, AND a mama 6 weeks post partum that took the class, and only pushed themselves to where they felt comfortable. We also gave away some prizes from Rush, Suja Juice and Farmer’s Fix before we left.

We had a blast and can’t wait to share more classes and exercise events with you in the future!
