Self Care Ideas That Do Not Require a Babysitter

These self care ideas do not require a babysitter. As busy moms, we all need to take care of ourselves, but I know it is easier said than done. Here are some ideas for getting in some self care time.

These self care ideas can be done alone or with your spouse. Best of all, there is no babysitter required!

Massages:

You can get an individual or couples massage by professional massage therapists without even leaving your home! Ever since I was introduced to Songez-Zen Bodywork, my husband and I have made it a ritual to book a couples massage every few months. Songez-Zen will do our couples massage at our house after the kids go to bed, so no babysitter is required!

YMCA:

YMCA of San Diego County is the perfect place to get in some self care time. Whether you work out, swim, or relax in the jacuzzi and sauna, you can do it all kid-free for two hours! There are days I just sit in the lobby and enjoy their free coffee station while I blog. Thanks to the YMCA family membership, childcare is included.

Fit4Mom:

For some of us, working out is our self care. Another great way to get a great workout in is through Fit4Mom (fitness for moms). Although their Stroller Strides program may include having your kids with you in a stroller, it sometimes feels as though your kids aren’t even there. The fabulous instructors have a great way of entertaining the kids so you can enjoy your “you” time.

Hot Bath:

For many of us, a hot bath or shower is your daily dose of self care. Next time, try relaxing in the bath with some homemade bath bombs.

Get Up Early:

Sometimes the only opportunity you have to get time to yourself is by getting up earlier than everyone else in the house. If you get up just 15 minutes earlier and enjoy a hot cup of coffee by yourself, it is all worth it! Maybe you can get your spouse to join you too.

Shows & Podcasts:

I know in my house, it is quite difficult for my husband and I to find time to watch an entire movie, so I have found that shows with shorter episodes or listening to podcasts is a great way to get in 30 minutes to yourself. I have really been loving fellow San Diego Moms Blog writer Deanne’s podcast called Highlight Positive.

Cook Dinner:

Cooking a nice dinner can be impossible for busy moms. Once a week, try cooking a late dinner with your spouse when the kids go to bed. Don’t forget a glass of wine!
